My name is Maggie Amato Panyko, and I am a Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master. I studied and received my Reiki attunements under Jenn Castillo-Staats, a Reiki Master, Indigenous Practitioner and Certified Counselor. Up until now, I have been practicing Reiki from my home for in-person and distance sessions, as well as the observed sessions I did during my training with Jenn. When Jenn offered to open her studio space to other trusted practitioners, I happily jumped at the chance to be in a beautifully curated space, with positive, healing energy.
My background is in the Humanities, Philosophy, and the Arts. I have loved music from a young age and have sung for, and been Managing Director of the groundbreaking, social-justice-minded MUSE, Cincinnati’s Women’s Choir. I now sing with the beautifully diverse and musically evocative Vox Veritatis Choir. I have a supportive husband of 23 years, and two wonderfully talented kids.
As a child, I was open to learning about the deeply spiritual and metaphysical world we inhabit. Growing up as a Roman Catholic and later learning about Swedenborgianism, I was curious about spirits, and found that Reiki fit nicely into my world and spiritual viewpoint of the existence of a higher power. Highly-vibrating energies, like angels, saints, spirits, guides, and loved ones who have crossed over, provide a framework for understanding that we are not just our bodies. There is energy within us and all around us at different levels, and it is limitless. Being aware of this energy, and trusting that all of us, with loving intentions, and caring for the concerns and well-being of others, can open doors to healing and peace.
Just as prayer and modalities such of Healing Touch, and the religious practices such as laying on of hands have shown powerful changes in the people who they are directed to, Reiki also offers a gentle way of accessing that energy, and allows it to pass through the practitioner to the intended person. In doing so, the practitioner is also illuminated by that love and positive energy.
